Sid Stelpstra, 79, of Clarkdale, died Jan. 25.
Born in Paterson, N.J., he had a 35- year career in education as a high school teacher for Mingus Union High School. He had a passion for volunteering to help fight hunger across the Verde Valley.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Robert; sons, Michael, Stephen and Thomas; and three grandchildren.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. A fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
