Mary Kay [Holmgren] Runke

Mary Kay [Holmgren] Runke died Jan. 14.
Born in Flagstaff, she was a graduate of Arizona State University. She taught first grade in Denver, Colo., and Cottonwood, and coached the Mingus Union High School tennis team. She also gave swimming lessons, and loved to play tennis and water and snow ski.
She is survived by her husband Larry; daughters Gayle [Joe] Porcello, Sandi [Hemming] Hemmingsen and Sheila Runke; and three granddaughters, Kiley, Lauren and Madison Porcello.
A celebration of life will be held later in Oak Creek.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. A fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
