Dorothy Irene Hancock

Dorothy Irene Armitage Hancock died recently.
Born in San Diego, Calif., she was known to most as Billie. She attended school at Berkeley University and went on to become an X-ray technician during World War II. She moved to Arizona in 1950 and was an elementary school teacher in Gilbert for 20 years. She is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services have been held.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. A fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
