Janell Lynne Surber, of Camp Verde, died April 3.

She enjoyed making artistic candles, barrel racing on her horse, Syl, cooking, writing children’s stories, teaching Bible classes, collecting antiques and traveling.

She is preceded by her parents and son, Michael.

She is survived by her husband, Vernie; daughter, Shelley; granddaughter Peach [Greg] and grandson Sam [Emily] and their families; three brothers; one sister; and one cousin.

Services have been held. In lieu of flowers, donations are being set up for a book fund for the Christian school in Camp Verde.

She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and worked in corporate communications in insurance and health care for several years, handling marketing and public relations duties. A fur-mom to two cats and three dogs, she is semi-retired.
