Yavapai’s community college cuts tuition for concurrently enrolled high school students

For the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year, Yavapai College will be reducing the cost of tuition for high school students. This 50% drop in prices applies to students who are concurrently enrolled in online college classes as well as their regular high school classes.

The college’s price drop will bring class fees down to $49 per credit. The discount makes classes more accessible to high school students who may want to get ahead of the curve by getting college credits out of the way at a much lower price than the colleges and universities they may attend in the future.

In addition to the new concurrent enrollment discount, Yavapai College is offering 50% discounts to senior citizens 65 and older and for out-of-state athletes, as well as a 90% discount for high school students taking dual credit classes.

“Education should be accessible and affordable for everyone, and at Yavapai College, we strive to make that a reality,” said Lisa B. Rhine, Ph.D., president of Yavapai College. “High school students who take college classes get a significant jump-start on completing their educational goals at a faster, higher success rate.” Yavapai College is making a consistent effort to keep costs down and keep education accessible to the community.

Compared to the national average for community colleges, Yavapai College’s tuition is 40% below the average for full-time students and 25% below the national average for part-time students.

According to a press release from Yavapai College, students can save an estimated $19,000 by attending Yavapai College for their freshman and sophomore years rather than going to a four-year university in Arizona.

Yavapai College operates six campuses and centers throughout Yavapai County and offers over 100 degrees and certificates, student and community services, and cultural events and activities.

Enrollment is currently open for the spring semester.
