Phillip (“Phil”) Earl England, 83, of Camp Verde, died Nov. 1.

After becoming superintendent of schools for Camp Verde Unified School District, he worked to improve school facilities, raise academic standards, improve relations with the Yavapai-Apache Nation, and was a leader in the Camp Verde community.

He is survived by his wife Donna, son Joel [Alison] England; daughter Julie England; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother and sister; and eight nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Center and Camp Verde Library.
