During an operation in Glendale on Wednesday, June 12, members of the Arizona Division of United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force were able to locate and apprehend fugitive Seth Backus, of Cottonwood.
Backus was arrested in the late morning hours of June 12 in the area of 61st avenue and Olive in Glendale and was taken into custody without incident.
Backus will now not only face the repercussions of his probation violation warrant, but several other charges he has accumulated while he was on the lam.
Backus was last known to be frequenting the Cottonwood, Cornville, Bridgeport and Camp Verde areas. He is wanted on a probation violation warrant out of Gila County. On May 30, Backus fled from police in the Cottonwood area and faces charges of felony flight and felony endangerment on top of the felony no bond probation violation warrant.
In addition, he was wanted on four additional warrants out of Yavapai County: burglary in the first degree, felony theft and misconduct involving weapons all stemming from an incident occurring in September 2018 in Yavapai County. He was also wanted on an aggravated assault charge stemming from a Dec. 24, 2018 incident in which Backus injured a Yavapai County Detention Sergeant’s hand while fighting with detention staff.
Backus stated he will not be taken back into custody.
