Edward R. “Ed” Acheson, of Cottonwood, died March 13.

He was a chemistry professor at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. He volunteered at Rising Hope Food Bank, and was active in OLLI and Cottonwood Ranch activities.

He is survived by his wife Lucy; sisters Jean [Reid] Acheson-Hollowell and Judith E. Acheson; brother Cliff [Bobbi] Acheson; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be included in the 4:30 p.m. service Saturday, March 23, at Sprit of Joy Lutheran Church in Clarkdale. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to the Dr. Ed and Lucy Acheson Award for Excellence endowment at Millikin University or Spirit of Joy Church in Clarkdale.
