A small group from Camp Verde High School’s track and field team will go to this weekend’s Arizona Interscholastic Association Division IV state championships.
On Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5, four individual boys will compete in a handful of running and field events.
Junior Christopher Holdgrafer leads with three individual events. Holdgrafer, who was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles in 2017, qualified fifth this season. He is 10th in the 300-meter hurdles and 17th in the triple jump.
Junior Joseph Jones made it in two running events: He is 22nd in the 3,200-meter run and 25th in the 1,600-meter run.
Senior Mathew Wade, a state qualifier in 2017, qualified again in the discus and made it in the shot put for the first time this year. Wade is 21st in the shot put and 11th in the discus.
Junior Damian Wathogoma is 22nd in the shot put.
Competition begins Friday, May 4 and ends Saturday, May 5, at Mesa Community College.
