Casino work slightly behind

One can’t help but notice the skyline is undergoing a major change adjacent to Cliff Castle Casino: The casino’s new hotel, a six-story structure, is the Verde Valley’s first of its size and scope.

Tim Hnedak, senior vice president of marketing and business development for co-developer DreamCatcher Hotels, said that he expects to have the parking garage completed by the new year, allowing for increased capacity for events and guests. The hotel itself, he added, is scheduled to open spring of 2017.

This date puts construction slightly behind schedule. A press release from Cliff Castle Casino in January projected December 2016 as the opening.

According to Cliff Castle Casino Marketing Operations Manager James Perry, the hotel will offer 122 rooms “with a mix of suites, king bed rooms, double-queen bed rooms; a pool; a multi-purpose event center for entertainment and conferences; a coffee shop; a retail outlet; and a 300-space parking garage.”

Yavapai-Apache Nation Chairman Thomas Beauty predicted that the facility will bring an estimated 60,000-plus additional guests each year. The existing hotel, on the lower property, will remain, with 80 hotel rooms offering a more economy-style option for guests.

Once all construction is complete, the casino’s current number of 430 employees number is expected to increase to approximately 475.
