Cottonwood bank robbed before opening

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 27, prior to the Cottonwood Bank of America opening for business, an individual or individuals entered the bank through the rear door of the building. The suspect or suspects removed a large sum of money from the bank.

At approximately 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Cottonwood Police Department officers had responded to Bank of America for alarm calls. On both occasions officers examined the exterior of the building and checked the doors. Nothing out of the ordinary was observed.

Cottonwood Police Department criminal investigations division is investigating the burglary along with assistance from the FBI and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office personnel. No suspect information has been obtained at this time however investigative leads are being pursued.

This investigation is still in progress. Additional information will be provided as the investigation continues.
