Hundreds of homes without water

Published:

Several thousand residents of Verde Santa Fe woke up Wednesday morning to little or no water, but service is expected to be fully restored by mid-morning, according to a spokeswoman from the city of Cottonwood utilities department.

Michele Stover, who is in the billing department, took the call about the problem because technicians and supervisors were all on the scene trying to determine the cause of the problem and begin repairs.

Stover answered the phone at about 8 a.m.

She said the problem was apparently reported sometime overnight because department personnel had been working on it for about an hour before she came into the office and began receiving calls.

Residents in different areas of Verde Santa Fe had experienced either  low-pressure or no water.

Stover reported back about a half hour later that partial pressure had been restored and said workers were estimating that full pressure would be restored within the hour.

She said they hadn’t indicated what caused the problem.

Several years ago, the city bought the private water company that served Verde Santa Fe, which has about 1,000 homes.
