Strategier returned to the Verde Valley

Tammy Strategier made it back home.

“I dug my way out of hell,” Strategier laughed, talking about her seven years in Phoenix.

The city was a little too constricting for Strategier.

For that matter, even Prescott is a bit too big these days for her liking, even though she said she really loved her time living there.

“I’m a small-town girl,” Strategier said. “I like being able to breathe.”

Strategier is from Camp Verde and it’s where she lives today.

She was walking toward the Camp Verde Parks and Recreation department office on Main Street Thursday to look for a list of things to do around town.

Strategier works at the Verde Brewing Company in the Boler’s Bar building on Main Street, a historic landmark from the 1930s.

As a native of Camp Verde, Strategier knows quite a bit about what there is to do. She also knows what there isn’t to do.

Strategier said that as a teenager it was often difficult staving off boredom and fun had to be made.

Like many who grew up in a small town, Strategier eventually left but then made her way back.

Strategier said she came back to be close to family.

The list of things to do is for her customers, Strategier said.

Many of them are tourists looking to find out what else Camp Verde has to offer and Strategier wants to have a go-to source of things to keep them around town for a little bit.
