Aedin Goodell-Sanford recently started his first year at South Verde High School, on Camp Verde’s Main Street.
That’s where he was last Thursday, getting ready to leave for the day, carrying a large guitar case in hand.
The 15-year-old attended Rimrock Public High School last year.
Goodell-Sanford lives in Rimrock and makes the commute to Camp Verde.
He has only lived in Rimrock for a couple of years, moving here from Tucson.
So far, he’s enjoying his new community and his new school.
“It’s cooler here,” Goodell-Sanford, speaking of the weather.
Goodell-Sanford was born in Flagstaff but his family had lived in Sedona for the first couple of years of his life.
He said he’s not sure why he’s back in the Verde Valley. “I wasn’t involved in making that decision,” he added.
Regardless, Goodell-Sanford said he prefered small town life in Rimrock over Tucson almost immediately.
As for his school, he likes that there are more students and really enjoys the music program.
Goodell-Sanford came to South Verde after someone recommended that he specifically take advantage of the music teacher’s work at the school.
“In my old school there were only like five students in my class,” Goodell-Sanford said.
Goodell-Sanford opened up his guitar case to show off the musical instrument, which came from Guitar Center in Phoenix.
“I’ve been playing guitars for years,” Goodell-Sanford said. “Probably half my life.”
Goodell-Sanford said he’s been into music since the third grade, when he played the recorder and the keyboard.
