USFS updates on Rattlesnake Fire

Published:

The Rattlesnake Fire was active through the evening of Sunday, Aug. 16, and is currently at 500 acres.  The lightning-caused fire is burning approximately five miles west of Bumble Bee in the Castle Creek Wilderness.

The Rattlesnake Fire is burning in steep, inaccessible terrain with no values at risk.  With the safety for firefighters and public being our first priority, fire management will identify and determine appropriate strategies, tactics and mitigations to enhance resource objectives and improve the health of fire dependent vegetation.

The fire will be visible to motorists driving along I-17 near Sunset Point on the west side of the interstate.
