The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office currently depends on the Cottonwood Police Department’s server to store information.
The office is now looking at establishing its own system.
The current agreement between Camp Verde and Cottonwood has been in place since 1998, Camp Verde Marshal Nancy Gardner said.
“The system provides storage data,” Gardner said.
The system is tied into the computers deputies use in their cars, Gardner said, which also allows the department to track crime trends.
The Town of Camp Verde has been paying around $18,000 annually to Cottonwood for the maintenance of the server.
Since the agreement was put in place, the town has paid out around $306,000, Gardner said.
The town of Clarkdale and the Yavapai-Apache Nation have also signed on to this data storage agreement.
“We have limited control on how that system functions for the needs of the town,” Gardner said.
As it stands, the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office loses access to the system at least once a day.
