Camp Verde starts fitness group

Living a healthier lifestyle, including a more nutritious diet, can be much easier around other people with similar goals.

To that end, the Camp Verde Parks and Recreation Department is starting the Community Fit Club.

“This is a chance for people to learn more about healthy living, discuss ideas from other group members and exercise on a regular basis,” said Michael Marshall, parks and recreation coordinator.

Facilitator Linda Glass said she would like to see people meet their fitness goals.

There was an organizational meeting this past weekend in Camp Verde, but attendance was low.

The organizers aren’t giving up, however, and are still hoping to spread the word to get more people involved.

“The program is completely free of charge,” Marshall said.

The eventual goal is to have participants get together two or three times a week, Marshall said.

“Meetings are envisioned as part education, part support group and part exercise time,” the Parks and Recreation Department announced.

Marshall said that the idea behind what the group would ultimately become would be largely driven by the ideas and desires of the members themselves.
