Myers is looking for a change of scenery from the Verde Valley

Published:

Angela Myers has been in Camp Verde for quite a few years now.

She’s not planning on staying for a whole lot longer.

Myers said that she and her fiance had a proclivity for wandering and that she has been feeling that itch again.

“We’re very spontaneous,” Myers said.

Myers has left Arizona and returned before, having lived in the mountains of North Carolina, the Tar Heel State, for a while, where her fiance, Mark, is from.

“It was so beautiful there,” Myers said.

The two actually met out here, where Mark’s father is from. Mark moved here in part so the climate could help with a slight allergy problem.

Of course, to Myers, pretty much a lot of places are more attractive to her than her original hometown of Oakland, Calif.

“I don’t really go back there anymore,” Myers said.

North Carolina is still an option on the table for a move, Myers said, as is Oregon, the Beaver State, although she’s less certain about that choice as she’s not a particular fan of the weather up in the Pacific Northwest.

In the meantime, Myers works as a bartender at Cliff Castle Casino.

“I have the night shift,” Myers said.

Myers said her job gives her the opportunity to meet all sorts of people from many different places.

Some of them are a little angry that the casino charges for cocktails when people are gambling, especially if they’ve been to Las Vegas recently and have an expectation of being comped.

“I can’t help it,” Myers said. “It’s just the policy.”

Out in North Carolina, Myers said she also worked at a casino, one owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Unfortunately, the casino was not immune to the Great Recession and she lost the job.
