The Beaver Creek community pulled together over the weekend to help raise money for the local public library.
Specifically, the effort came together in order to support the library’s adult computer and technology classes.
Dubbed the Trek for Tech, the event took place Sunday, April 12.
The tech part of the name is obvious.
The “trek” came in the form of a community walk that covered a distance of just over three miles throughout the community.
Sponsored and organized by the Friends of the Beaver Creek Library, this is the second year in a row for the walk.
“These classes are offered to any adult in the community,” said Judy McBride, a former principal at Beaver Creek School.
This week, for instance, the library has a class scheduled to teach people how to effectively use programs like Microsoft Office and the multitude of functions it enables.
With more funding, the library could offer even more classes and options.
Until relatively recently, the Beaver Creek Library was housed in a small building on Lake Montezuma Avenue not far from the currently-closed Ranch House Restaurant.
