Things will be a little bit different at South Verde High School next year. Principal Steve King will be moving on.

King said he has signed a letter of intent to become the assistant superintendent for the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District.

King has served as principal at the school, officially known as South Verde Technology Magnet School, for the past eight years.

“The best eight years of my life,” King said.

King has always seemed to take a hands-on approach to his work at the school where he can often be found teaching, sitting out among the students working away behind rows of glowing monitors.

Over the years, the school has entertained a variety of programs, from robotics and graphic design to painting and music.

The inside walls spring to life with the murals, art and photography of the students.
