Dice run aides ailing Christian

Verde Valley Fire District Chief Nazih Hazime has opened up Station No. 31 as a stop on a dice run to help Jeff Christian, a fellow member of Clarkdale’s Moose Lodge 1449 who is battling cancer. The fundraiser is being held for him Saturday, March 14.

Jeff Christian spent a lot of time working to help his community. Now the community is looking to provide a little help for Christian.

Christian helped run the local Food City in Cottonwood, said Allan Marx, a friend who is helping organize a motorcycle run this weekend for Christian’s benefit.

Proceeds will go to help pay for some family expenses as Christian has stage IV lung cancer and has been fighting for his life.

“If there is anything related to helping the community, Jeff has been there,” Marx said.

The run, set for Saturday, March 14, isn’t just for motorcycles, Marx said.

“People can drive their cars if they want,” Allan said. “Two wheels, three wheels, four wheels, we’re not turning anyone away.”

The event is a dice run, where participants travel to different locations throughout the Verde Valley, throw some dice and later figure out who the winner was.

Who wins is really a secondary concern, however, given the reason for the run.

The run is set to begin at the Verde Valley Moose Lodge, 1051 Broadway in Clarkdale.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Marx said kickstands go up at 10:30 a.m.
