The Camp Verde Community Library is getting ready for round two of an innovative new program for kids.
It’s called STEAM.
Part of those letters stand for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, much like the areas of study showcased by last year’s SciTech festival in the Verde Valley.
It was the first such festival to be hosted here. The library is adding an extra letter, A, for the arts.
Dianna Manasse, youth services librarian, has been on the job for a few months since coming to Arizona from Alaska. Manasse oversaw the previous STEAM program, which ran from September through December.
“It was pretty successful,” Manasse said.
Other schools and organizations in the area have been given grants to help turn kids on to this kind of education and the Camp Verde Community Library is no different.
The Arizona State Library donated a variety of “STEAM kits” to the local library to help children get a more hands-on experience with the arts and sciences.
