The 28th Made In Clarkdale art event kicked off last weekend and it seems to have been a success so far, organizers say.
While things have gotten off to a good start, there are still events and things to see that run throughout the rest of this week and into the weekend.
Made In Clarkdale started back in 1986 as an art show with 17 participating artists, created by Ellie Bauer and initially an effort to fund the Clarkdale Chamber of Commerce’s newsletter.
It’s grown quite a bit since those early days. This year, the event involves more than 80 artists, including at least 50 who have their work on display.
The people who participate have to either live in Clarkdale or have a strong connection with the town, a way to showcase the talent that exists in a relatively small community.
“Each year’s show is infused with the variety of talent of newly juried artists who live or work in Clarkdale or attend art classes at the Clarkdale campus of Yavapai Community College,” organizers said in announcing the nine-day show earlier this year. “It is always an inspiration and pleasure to announce to the community what awaits them.”
While artists tend to come and go from year to year, this year has brought 14 new participating artists to the show.
