Camp Verde High School wrestlers got their one day of preparation against four other teams before the real challenge comes to town.

Eight of the 13 Cowboys who wrestled Nov. 25 went undefeated in their season opener at home as CVHS won four duals leading into their first-ever meeting Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6, with the wrestling program that set the state standard — Sunnyside High School, from Tucson.

“Without a doubt, this year’s Camp Verde wrestling duals is the biggest challenge we will have ever faced,” assistant coach Mario Chagolla Sr. said. “Camp Verde has long waited for Sunnyside to join in on the fun. It is an honor and a privilege to have someone of their caliber participate in our tournament.”
