Epperson still substitute teaches after a long career in education

Published:

Sally Epperson has called the Verde Valley home for around 30 years.

A retired educator, Epperson said she still works as a substitute when needed.

Over the years, Epperson said she has been a kindergarten teacher at Camp Verde Elementary, Beaver Creek School and American Heritage Academy in Camp Verde.

Epperson said she followed in her parents’ footsteps when it came to taking up a career in education.

“My father was a professor at [Northern Arizona University],” Epperson said. “He taught journalism.”

Last week, Epperson was dropping in at the Camp Verde Community Library to drop off a couple of books.

They were Louis L’amour novels. The author wrote many books set in the American West and they happen to be a favorite of Epperson’s.
