Jeff Clark is the Teen Council librarian at the Cottonwood Public Library. Only just out of the teens himself — having graduated from Mingus Union High School in 2012 — he has a good pulse of what the younger patrons of the library want, even if the job brings some challenges.
“It’s definitely new. I’m just out of high school. In a way it’s easy but at the same time it’s difficult to get some of them to listen since the age difference isn’t that much,” Clark said.
This is Clark’s second year with the library. In addition to regular duties, input he receives from teenagers helps decide what books the library will add.
“I think the item we have checked out most is comic books, manga novels,” he said.
Clark likes his job. He has to keep up on ongoing projects during the slower times at the library. As the library continues to create more events for the public, Clark sets them into the calender, making sure everyone is on the same page.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better straight-out-of-high-school job,” he said.
