If he can wrestle like he did in Las Vegas last Halloween, Camp Verde High School sophomore Hayden Uhler won’t need to go trick-or-treating for booty.

Uhler will be wrestling at a higher weight and in a higher division at the Freak Show wrestling tournament Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1 and 2, after winning the 106-pound title for wrestlers 15 years old and under last year “against some of the best in the nation,” CVHS assistant wrestling coach Mario Chagolla Sr. said.

“It started out small and now it’s huge — and nothing but the best of the best,” Chagolla said. “Anybody that wins it can make a name. You’re talking huge opportunities for scholarships.”

Chagolla is hoping that Uhler and his brothers, Korben and Racer, along with senior Matt Mejia and senior Ryan Allred, can all take championships in their weight divisions.

“We’re hoping I’ll be ranked first, since I won it last year,” Hayden Uhler said. “I only had the one pin.”
