The Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District hosted a series of tours last week at its various schools in an effort to showcase why it is asking voters to approve a $15 million capital bond at the polls on Tuesday,
Nov. 4.
Capital projects can include everything from furniture to school bus repairs.
Arizona state law caps the amount of money school districts can spend, but districts can seek out bonds and budget overrides with approval from voters in the district.
The tours were conducted at Oak Creek School, Mountain View Preparatory, Dr. Daniel Bright School, Cottonwood Elementary School and Cottonwood Middle School.
Members of the League of Women Voters were on hand to help people who wanted to register to vote.
Oct. 6 was the last day to register to vote in the November general election in Yavapai County.
This is the first time the school district has come to the voters asking for a capital bond since 1995.
That bond was paid off in 2009.
