Whitmire enjoys kayaking with family down the river

Published:

Clarise Whitmire has been in Camp Verde for around six years.

That’s also about how long she’s been married to her husband Kenny.

Last week they were spending a Thursday afternoon visiting with her grandchildren at the Camp Verde Community Library.

Originally from Flagstaff, Whitmire said she followed her family down the mountain. They eventually moved down into the Verde Valley.

“Grandma came and then we all came,” Whitmire said.

Whitmire spent about eight years in the meantime living in Lake Tahoe, Nev., a place Whitmire highly recommends visiting if one happens to get the opportunity.

The family visited with their grandchildren and their mother was being monitored by a representative from the state’s child protective services.

The children didn’t seem to mind, running around and playing during “Nana’s” talk with a reporter.

While everyone was polite and the monitor was just doing her job, Whitmire did express some concern about what the state agency does in practice, in her opinion.
