The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office has received grants to increase its DUI enforcement and speeding patrols.
The office has received nearly $14,500 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for DUI enforcement programs.
Another $3,000 has been awarded through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for speed enforcement.
The money will be used to pay for new equipment and to help pay for overtime to get more police officers out on the streets.
The DUI grant is funded federally, according to a report from the marshal’s office.
It can be used for employee expenses and actual equipment with a goal “to reduce the incidence of alcohol and drug-related driving, fatalities and injuries through enforcement, education and public awareness throughout the state,” the announcement from the marshal’s office reads.
“We’re already in the process of looking at equipment,” said Darby Martin, spokeswoman for the marshal’s office.
