Lobos volleyball looks to ‘new season’ for first win

Published:

The Cottonwood Middle School “A” volleyball team has lost that winning feeling.

Head Coach Rex Barton hopes the Lobos can get it back by Friday, Oct. 3.

“It’s a new season,” he said. “It’s basically a brand new team. We’re looking forward to it, so we’ll see what happens.”

That is when the Lobos will travel to Prescott to take on host Mile High Middle School in their double-elimination league championship playoff, the Quad City League tournament.

“The girls just need to go after the higher seeds and see what happens,” Barton said. “If they can’t beat them, we’ll go after the middle one we face next.”

While Mile High still has undefeated Granite Mountain Middle School to play, Barton is pretty confident he won’t be facing his former school until later matches.

But he is also confident both in the progress of his girls and the imminence of their first win.

“If we just believe we can win, we can knock off anybody,” he said.
