Contractors can dump at station

Published:

The city of Cottonwood last week changed a policy that forced contractors to drive to Camp Verde or as far as the Gray Wolf Landfill in Dewey to dispose of refuse.

The city operates a waste transfer station off Mingus Avenue that contractors will now be able to use in exchange for a higher fee than residents pay.

The transfer station used to be operated by Waste Management.

“Since taking over the operations of the transfer station the city has implemented the same policies that were held by Waste Management when they operated the station,” Morgan Scott, Cottonwood development services manager, reported. “Construction contractors and landscape contractors have been turned away from the transfer station.”

The city helps fund operations at the transfer station in order to help keep costs down for residents.
