One win and one loss into the varsity football season, and Camp Verde High School already confusing its next opponent.
After scoring 26 straight points Aug. 29 against Chino Valley to win their home opener, 40-14, then finding themselves on the opposite end of that score — minus one — Friday, Sept. 5, at Paradise Honors High School, the Cowboys will conclude their three-game non-section schedule at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at, of all high schools, Campo Verde in Gilbert.
“They had a contract with Chaparral, but they had double-booked home games that night,” CVHS head coach Steve Darby said of his varsity’s date against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, originally scheduled to take place at the Chaparral High School stadium. “We offered for it to be in Camp Verde.”
The high school is at 3850 S. Quartz St. Call CVHS at 567-8033 for more information about stadium location and directions.
