Town defines its ‘character areas’

Published:

The Camp Verde Planning and Zoning Commission has been working on adopting character areas for the town, places where planning is considered based on a particular area’s identity and feel.

There are 10 such character areas that have been identified: The State Route 260 corridor, Middle Verde, the Finnie Flat business corridor, Pecan Lane, Downtown, McCracken Lane, Salt Mine Road, State Route 260 East, Quarterhorse Lane and Clear Creek.

The idea is to identify areas that have their own character and feel, in order to help guide future land use and development in those areas in an effort to maintain that feel to an area.

A committee of residents had worked on defining character areas for the town in preparation for a new general plan for the town.
