The Camp Verde Town Council accepted last week the framework that will create an advisory council to the Yavapai College Governing Board that will help the college better communicate with representatives of the Verde Valley.
Efforts to create some sort of improved input system for the Verde Valley picked up steam after the college released its 10-year plan a few months ago.
The plan calls for around $103 million in capital expenditures, most of which will be spent on the Prescott/Prescott Valley side of the mountain.
The plan for a new committee has been circulating throughout the Verde Valley.
With the Camp Verde Town Council’s approval last week, the general framework has also been considered in Clarkdale, Jerome, Cottonwood and Sedona.
Under the framework, the councils in each municipality, along with the Yavapai County supervisors that represent the Verde Valley, would nominate candidates for the committee that would advise the college’s governing board.
Yavapai County Superintendent of Schools Tim Carter would select the most qualified candidates among those nominated.
