State boosts Camp Verde tourism

Published:

Camp Verde is being featured this year in the Arizona Department of Tourism’s “Summer in AZ” campaign, along with other areas in the Verde Valley.

The community is being touted as a destination for water-based activities, particularly for the adventure of putting in a kayak or canoe at Beasley Flats.

The particular feature, called “Make a Splash,” is in the official state visitor’s guide.

It quotes Tyler Williams, the author of “Paddling Arizona: A Guide to Lakes, Rivers and Creeks.”

“With a put-in at Beasley Flats and take-out at Childs, this 16-mile frothy adventure rewards rafters with several Class II and III rapids, including ‘Off the Wall,’ which Williams describes as ‘a fast sluice against ledges with some powerful reactionary waves,’” the guide states.
