Library may be shortened

Published:

Camp Verde has been working for years to build a new modern library.

The Town Council is considering different options to get the project completed in the face of the reality of available funding for the project.

The Camp Verde Town Council has already approved the permits needed to build a new town library, near the site of the current library between Montezuma Castle Highway and Black Bridge Road.

There’s just a question of how it will be constructed.

The current library was opened in 1975.

The plans approved by the Town Council allow for a 17,000-square-foot two-story library building, an observatory and a rainwater tank. The designs for the new library were drawn up by local architect Joel Westervelt.

Now the council is deciding whether a second floor should be built on the new library initially.
