Library adds new ‘smart’ table

Published:

The Cottonwood Public Library has obtained a grant to bring its effort to promote early literacy further into the 21st century.

The grant, just under $23,500, was obtained from the Arizona State Library through the Library Services and Technology Act, a federal program that funds library projects around the country.

The money will be used to buy four tablets and a smart table, said Vanessa Ward, library manager.

The Cottonwood City Council signed off on acceptance of the grant at its June 4 meeting.

Ward said that the library hopes to have the smart table set up by the end of the month.

It’s almost like something out of “Star Trek.”

“Picture an oversized tablet that eight people can sit at and comfortably use,” said Anne Roberts, librarian.
