Town moves ahead with ‘tri-intersection’ project

Published:

The Town of Camp Verde is moving forward with plans to improve traffic flow at what is referrred to as the “tri-intersection,” the area where traffic meets along Main Street, Montezuma Castle Highway and the approach to Finnie Flat Road.

The town received a grant to carry out a study a few years ago.

The study pointed out that the current intersection can be a bit confusing, particularly for people not familiar with Camp Verde.

It’s also sometimes difficult for larger trucks to navigate the intersection and the driveways from nearby businesses, which can lead to potentially dangerous situations, according to the  report.

The town has more than $800,000 available for this project.

Last week, the Town Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the state of Arizona to use around $85,000 in federal funds along with a match of around $5,000 plus an additional $30,000 to be paid to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
