The city of Cottonwood is nearing the end of a process to finalize its general plan, a road map of sorts that serves as the city’s vision from 2015 to 2025.

“The general plan is a dream and a vision,” Mayor Diane Joens said.

The city held a public hearing last week at its May 20 meeting.

Charles Scully, a long- range planner for the city of Cottonwood, gave some background on the process.

Scully said the city is required by state law to have a general plan. Work on the most recent plan started back in summer of 2012, Scully said.

The city held a few workshops to get input from residents.
