Cottonwood police officers and others gathered last week for the unveiling of a statue honoring law enforcement officers and the sacrifices they sometimes have to make in fulfilling their duties.
Named “The Calling,” the bronze sculpture depicts a police officer holding a folded American flag.
It sits on a pedestal at the Cottonwood Public Safety building on Sixth Street, right at the entrance and surrounded by bricks that bear the names of the people, companies and organizations that helped raise around $70,000 for the statue’s creation. Other donors had their names on bronze plaques behind the statue.
The entire sculpture project was funded through private donations.
