On Friday, April 25, Green Jellÿ will perform at Main Stage in Cottonwood. The comedy rock band, which formed at Green Jello in Kenmore, N.Y., had a propensity for the absurd that just became the norm from the beginning.
Graduating from paper-mache heads to foam ones after befriending members of Gwar, the band found its commercial success in the 1990s but lost its name as Kraft Foods sued and forced the band to call itself Green Jellÿ, but still defiantly pronounced “Green Jello” to this day.
In 1995, Green Jellÿ’s album “333” won a Grammy for best long-form video. The band reunited in 2008 after being on hiatus since 1995, releasing its latest album “Musick to Insult Your Intelligence By” in 2009 and getting a spot on the Legends stage at Vans Warped Tour and reuniting with Gwar.
