CVMO may offer dogs for therapy

Dogs have been called man’s best friend, due to their loyalty, playfulness, and protectiveness, as well as eagerness to please, as shown by Lucky Dog, owned by Jimmy Pierce. Because of these qualities, the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office is exploring the implementation of a therapy dog program.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office is exploring offering a therapy dog program.

The program would use experienced handlers with dogs to help in community outreach and to comfort children who have been the victims of traumatic events.

“It’s an extension of our volunteer program,” Camp Verde Marshal Nancy Gardner said.

The members of the Volunteers in Policing program, or VIPs, are already engaged in a variety of efforts to help people in the community.
