League weighs in on legislation

Published:

The League of Arizona Cities and Towns, an organization that tries to represent the interests of municipal governments across the state, works to keep towns and their leaders informed about what’s happening on the floor of the Arizona State Legislature.
“The one thing I think is of interest to us, [Arizona House of Representatives] Speaker [Andy] Tobin [R-District 1] has introduced a bill, at least right now, to appropriate $119 million to the [Arizona Department of Public Safety] to make sure that the formula for [Highway User Revenue Funds] get to stay clear of a DPS transfer,” Camp Verde Town Manager Russ Martin said.

Under the proposed bill, which has many sponsors behind it in the legislature, funding for DPS would come out of the state’s general fund.
