Statue will honor the ‘thin blue line’

Published:

Efforts are moving forward with plans to construct a statue honoring law enforcement in front of the Cottonwood Police Department.

This past May saw National Police Week. A group of Cottonwood Police Department employees marked the occasion by forming a committee to have the statue created by the same time next year. The committee is made up of police officers and other people from around the community.

The initial goal was to raise $65,000.

If everything goes according to plan, the statue will be shown off to the public during National Police Week in 2014, said Jim Iacovacci, with Verde Valley-based Law Enforcement Creations. Along with sculptor Neil Logan, the two have been putting up bronze statues around the state to honor soldiers and emergency workers, including a Veterans Memorial in Williams that depicts a World War II-era GI.
