The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and arson that took place in the Verde Villages sometime between May 26 and May 27. The home, on the 1900 block of Desrerama Circle, is shared by three roommates.
Two of the occupants were out of town, but the third roommate returned home at 1 a.m. to find the house filled with smoke. The fire was put out by firefighters, and investigators later determined that arson was the likely cause of the blaze.
Evidence is still being reviewed, according to Dwight D’Evelyn, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire destroyed much of the home, but a search of the premises reveled that several items had been stolen.
The missing property includes a flat screen television and three video game consoles.
