Braves end Sedona Tigers’ nine-game win streak with force

Published:

The Braves ended a nine-game win streak with dominating force on May 22.

The Majors team of the Verde Valley Little League traveled to Posse Grounds Park in Sedona and beat the Sedona Tigers 14-4.

Chris Mathe hits a ball deep into center field, getting him and two of his Braves teammates to home plate at Posse Grounds Park.“The Tigers beat us good before at home,” Braves’ Head Coach Rodney Mathe said. “But this time we pushed to hit the crud out of the ball.”

“We did not play well. Errors plagued us throughout the entire game and we made a couple of crucial base running mistakes,” Tigers’ Head Coach Mark Seda said. “We did not hit the ball consistently, but when we did, we would make some sort of mental error.”

After coming off a strong 14-11 win from two days earlier, the Tigers were forced to be in rare form as they are usually the ones who take control of the game.

Chris Mathe, Alex Rodriguez and Anthony Godina loaded up the bases and were all knocked in by Nicholas Dumford. Dumford then scored on a wild pitch with a beautiful slide, putting the Braves up 4-0.

A double play by shortstop Drew Streck and first baseman Rodriguez kept the Tigers scoreless.
