Camp Verde’s sixth inning rally falls short against Badgers

Published:

The Camp Verde Cowboys [7-11-1] lost to the Prescott Badgers [11-8], 15-5, Thursday, April 4, at Camp Verde High School. The Cowboys were scoreless until the sixth inning when they started a comeback, but time was not on Camp Verde’s side as the rally fell short.

The Badgers scored one run in the first inning, but center fielder Austin Stutzman, right fielder Tyler Pennington and third baseman Andy Woodward each made great defensive plays to get the Cowboys out of the inning.

Pitcher Taylor Hicks had one strikeout in the second inning and with the help of the infield, got the three quick outs.

For the next four innings, the Cowboys were making good contact with the ball, but they were hitting straight to Badgers fielders and couldn’t score the few baserunners they had.
