Marauders ride big sixth inning to win over Cowboys

The Marauders baseball team continued to add to its winning record with a shutout victory over its cross-valley rival.

Mingus Union [9-2-1] beat the Camp Verde Cowboys [5-6-1] 10-0 on Patterson Field in Cottonwood on Monday, March 18. The Marauders scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and sealed the victory with a home run by junior Austin Zwart, his third home run of the season.

Herdon had two hits in three at bats, scored two runs and had one RBI in the Marauders 10-0 win over the Camp Verde Cowboys at home on Monday, March 18.“Pitcher Austin Zwart pitched great and our defense played well behind him,” Mingus Head Coach Bob Young said. “Camp Verde can swing the bat. They are a good solid ball team.”

The scoreboard was 0-0 until the bottom of the second inning. With Cowboys senior Jesse Fullbright pitching, Zwart hit a ground ball down the middle, batting in Andres Zorrilla and Tyler Herndon for the first two runs of the game.
