The Camp Verde High School golf team is young but Cowboys Head Coach Chris Fuller believes it is talented and will show its potential this season.
The varsity team has just one senior, Cody Wilson, and no juniors. Fuller said his two sophomores, Bodie Holowell and Brett Worth, are strong players who will definitely be scoring in the low- to mid-40s very soon. The team also has four talented freshman: Vance Tewawina, Joel Beauty, Seth Buikema and Skye Smith.
At a dual meet on Wednesday, March 6, against Florence at the Verde Santa Fe Golf Course, Beauty, Buikema and Tewawina all shot in the 40s, and even though his team lost the match 238-196, Fuller said he is proud of his players. So far they’ve defeated Parker, Northland Prep and Florence, and have lost to Wickenburg, Sedona and Florence.
